09.27.13 – Today marks exactly one month until my nephew is born. Well, give or take depending on if he comes exactly on the due date or before or after. Either way, he just better come before we take off for our European vacation on 11/2. I pray with all my might for him to come before then!!! Please please please!!!!
Anyways, back to the main reason for this post… In honor of baby, Cheryl, my brother in-laws older sister and I got together to throw the expecting parents a baby shower for the family! She and I both have very little experience with baby showers, but I must toot my horn and say it was a success! *toot toot*
There was one pitfall as the restaurant we were hosting the party at somehow gave up our private room. None the less though, the party must go on and we made do with what we had out in the open. Sister must have felt so embarrassed though because she hates hates being the center of attention (sorry sister!).
We arrived early to set up our favors, centerpieces, banners, games, gift table, etc.
The guests arrived and then we ate. Sister apparently LOVES jello! I remember one night I asked if she wanted to go to dinner and she said, “I want homemade tofu and an ice cream sundae”. She has some unusual food requests…
The highlight of the party though were the games!!! At first I was a bit nervous whether or not people would participate and I think at first they were anti games, but they finally loosened up and everyone had a great time!
I think the best game was the “Name that food” game. 3 diapers with 3 different candies and 3 different baby food jars were passed around and guests had to guess what food each item was! Surprisingly, some people got 100% – they must really know their candies and baby food!
Other fun games included: The Price is Right, Guess Moms Belly Size, Help the offspring find their parents and guess the value in the piggy bank!
We are all very excited to welcome baby into this world. He is the first grandchild on both sides of the family so it’s a big deal! I hope the soon to be grandparents are ready for this little munchkin! Hopefully one of them will retire soon so that they can babysit, especially when my turn comes around to have babies ;)
We can’t wait to meet you, Baby!!!!!! Remember, please come before 11/2. Love, Aunty Kathy
