Vacay on 2/29?

Well as you know, “anniversary hike” was a bust … but Matt wasn’t going to give up that easily.

mm: please take vacation on 2/29

ko: why should I take vacation?

mm: please take off

ko: why, what’s going on 2/29?

mm: take off!

ko: why am I going to take off?  I had to use 8 days already; if you wanted me to take off you should have taken off on the days I was off

mm: please just take off; you have so many vacation days!

little light bulbs are going off in Kathy’s head because Matt is acting strange, so she decides to investigate further by asking her sister:

ko: have you talked to matt recently?

wo: no, why?

ko: he’s acting really weird.  at first he wanted to kayak and hike out to Chinaman’s Hat.  He was so adamant about going, but he finally gave in because of the weather. And now he is asking me to take off; he never tells me to take off

wo: oh, well I don’t know.  maybe he just wants to spend a day with you…

ko: that’s weird!  haha

So as Kathy is on to something, she jokes around with Matt on their car rides to work:

ko: did you ask my dad for permission?  haha

mm: ask your dad for permission for what?  what are you talking about?

ko: so, what’s my ring look like?

mm: what ring? what are you talking about?

ko: my ring!  what does it look like?

mm: if you keep this up, you’ll never get a ring!  haha

Fast forward to Monday 02.27.12

ko: are you really taking off on 2/29?

mm: yeah, aren’t you taking off too?

ko: I can’t take off!  it’s the last day of the fiscal year and it’s a busy time.  plus I didn’t give enough notice

mm: ok fine then!

So, Kathy is on to something because of Matt’s weird, out-of-the-norm behavior, but nothing comes of it and anniversary hike take 2, which was supposed to happen on 2/29 has been rescheduled.
