I had a timeline and I realize I had an obscured idea of time! Graduate college in three years, teach English abroad, get married, get my masters, start a career, buy a place and have kids – all before 30. Well, I’m 30 now and have succeeded in 3 or 4 things on that list. My timeline is a bit delayed. Sometimes I honestly feel I wish I had more to show for myself, but at the same time, I’m happy with what I have accomplished so far and I know there are only more amazing things in my future…
…Starting with my dream house!!!!!
We already have our condo – 4 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 parking, W/D in unit, etc – it’s perfect for a small family. Conveniently located close to the mall and grocery stores, not to mention it is on the bus route. It is a great place and I am thankful I found it, but now I feel it is time to move on up! I yearn for a house. Ideally, I wanted to keep this condo and rent it out while we buy our new house, however after browsing the market, I realize it is near impossible to do so. House prices are skyrocketing and there is no way we can afford to keep both. I must let go of one or the other and I hate to say this, but goodbye condo! It’s been a great 4 years!
We’ve slowly started looking at houses, but I have to admit the whole process is actually quite discouraging. Imagine you find a house you really like, but realize you cannot afford it. Imagine you find a fixer up that you wouldn’t mind buying, but realize the renovation cost would be too expensive. Imagine, finding a place, putting in an offer and getting out beaten by someone who is willing to put 20% down … in CASH! In the whole mix, we are busy trying to pack up our condo so we can put it on the market, because reality is no realtor wants to accept an offer with a contingent sale of a condo. Well, I wouldn’t say it would never happen, but chances are real slim. Like I said, quite discouraging. But, I’m keeping my head and hopes up that we will find a house in the next couple of months (at least that’s my goal – timelines timelines)! Plus we have one of the best, if not THE best realtors helping us out, Island, Realtors LLC. So begins our long journey to find our dream house.
Wish us luck as we continue our house hunting!
Fingers crossed. Head Up.
